As President and Chief Petrophysicist of CJS Serpas Petrophysics, Inc., he provides advanced petrophysical analysis and strategic advisory services to exploration and production (E&P) companies, with a strong focus on the Permian Basin and other complex resource plays.

Throughout his career, Calvin has built a reputation for translating complex subsurface data into actionable insights that enhance reservoir performance and optimize asset value. His expertise spans conventional and unconventional reservoirs, including tight gas, shale plays, fractured carbonates, and clastic systems. His prior leadership roles include Chief Petrophysicist and SVP of Geoscience at Trey Resources, as well as senior technical and advisory positions with SM Energy, Apache Corporation, Whiting Petroleum, Concho Resources, and ARCO Oil & Gas. Over the course of his career, he has contributed to the evaluation and interpretation of thousands of wells and has led petrophysical efforts across some of North America’s most significant hydrocarbon basins.

Beyond his technical leadership, Calvin is known for mentoring geoscience teams, delivering executive-level technical reports, and advising on logging strategies, reservoir modeling, and data quality assurance in complex drilling environments. A recognized industry leader, Calvin is a Licensed Professional Geoscientist in Texas and a Certified Earth Scientist. He is an active member of leading professional organizations, including SPE, AAPG, and SPWLA, and has served as President of both the Dallas and Permian Basin chapters of SPWLA. His contributions to the field have been acknowledged with multiple industry awards, including the SPE Formation Evaluation Award and designation as an SPE Legion of Honor member.
